Alphonso McGriff III, a Hartford, Connecticut native, is an award winning hair stylist, a public speaker, author, poet, writer, and inventor. He has recently finished his first book "The Book of ABE," which will be available for sale in July 2012. He has been awarded such honors as "Citizen of the Year," "Community Allstar," "Male Role Model," and recently been recognized by the local Mayor and Governor with the "City of Hartford Helping Hands Award."

For the past 18 years Alphonso has been developing The McGriff Approach to Effective Communication by moderating well organized conversation forums that use an interactive reasoning and problem solving format. Ultimately, the goal is personal growth through understanding. The result is an interactive seminar designed for those who are interested in having a Conscious Conversation, or simply want to acquire tools for becoming a more productive and positive effective communicator. According to the "McGriff" communications model, a Conscious Conversation is an informed, reasoned, and progressive approach to Effective Communication. This approach promotes skill enhancement in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Resolution, and Critical Thinking. Such skills are essential for navigating and negotiating one's place in an increasingly global society.
